Flies Permit

Flying With Dogs – Going Through The Long Process

There are numerous requirements that a pet’s owner must have before traveling with a dog by air. While regulations for every airline, many work with the similar general rules while it comes to dog flying.

Dogs Can’t Fly Alone

All airlines that were researched for this particular article have rules against flying dogs alone from one place to another. Do understand that dogs will be considered as cargo to the airlines. You can’t send luggage to a place somewhere across the nation without going along with it [only an airline might do that - include rim shot here] & you can not send your doggie. Unaccompanied dogs should be transported by an approved and licensed pet transporting company.

Clean Health Bill

All airlines need that a dog which will be accompanying with you receives a thorough physical examination and must be tested for diseases [commonly rabies] before they fly. Usually airlines requires that the examination certificate, which must be dated within a stipulated amount of days before the flight, so the certificate you have for your dog, which underwent 2 years ago won’t suffice for a trip which you intend to board next week.

Restrictions Related to Weather

The cargo hold of an airplane might become very-very hot. Due to this, there are many restrictions during sometimes of the year that dogs might travel from and to certain towns. Many airlines will also employ specific temperature and weather related restrictions. For e.g.; if the temperature during the departure or arrival to the city exceeds 80 or 85degrees Fahrenheit, pets won’t be allowed on plane.

Pets inside the Cabin

All airlines permit the flight of pets inside the cabin of the plane, provided if they fit inside the in-cabin kennel (9″ high by 22″ long in most airlines). Cost for this kind of service varies with airlines but it’s under US $100 in most of the cases. This is a considerable improvement when compared to pets transported in cargo, which many consider as a very unsafe practice and sometimes costs more than US $300.

International Flights

Customs laws of most nations restrict the travel of doggies and other kind of pets over the borders. Airlines should comply with all these laws and during most of the cases your dog won’t be able to be with you during an international flight.
